Call for Volunteers

This event is run by volunteers who give their time to organise, manage the registration, run the beach marshalling, cook the BBQ, etc.  A few volunteer positions have already been filled but we still need a lot more.  If you are interested in helping with these tasks, please call Simon on 0412 022792 our RNR Coordinator.

Equipment

See standard equipment.  If you have additional safety equipment (VHF radio, PLB, flares) bring it along.  A small kayak trolley for access to the boat ramp can be useful for moving sea kayaks to the favoured launch location being adjacent to the campsite.

A suitable helmet for surf, rock gardens and practising rescue skills at sea is recommended to maximise your paddling opportunities.

Trips and Training Program

There is a great range of paddling opportunities.  Pre-registration of interest is open for some events, mainly specific training opportunities.

The favoured launch location does not usually have surf.    Nearby there are opportunities for surf practice with waves from a refracted southerly swell or conditions from the east or northeast.  There is also various rocky shorelines in the area.  The north side of Jervis Bay and Crookhaven and Shoalhaven Rivers will provide enclosed sea options for those preferring to paddle in enclosed seas and in case of inclement conditions on open seas.

If you intend to get on on the water, come to the mornings trip and training registration (at the marquee) prepared to get on the water, including packing snacks and water for the paddle. Some trips could involve car transportation to alternative launch locations with a drive of up to 30 minutes.
